Crédit du Maroc traces its origin back to 1929 when CREDIT LYONNAIS established in Casablanca its first branch in Morocco.
In 1963, CREDIT LYONNAIS created a subsidiary in Morocco through a joint venture with, at that time state-owned, Banque Marocaine du Commerce Exterieur (BMCE). The new entity took the name of CREDIT LYONNAIS MAROC.
The latter absorbed a small bank, Compagnie Africaine de Banque, in 1966 and changed its name to CREDIT DU MAROC.
Crédit du Maroc's shareholders are mainly financial institutions who account for 86.31%, 1.62% by a holding company, and the remaining 12.15 % is held by individual shareholders.
Crédit du Maroc is a large institution endowed with a nationwide network of branches. Abroad, the bank is represented by a full branch in France in the city of Paris, and two representative offices in the Netherlands, in the cities of Amsterdam, Ultrecht and one in Itlay in the city of Milan.
Ever since its creation, the bank was specialized in corporate banking, active mainly in International Trade Finance activities. However, in 1966, Crédit du Maroc changed its strategy to become a generalist and universal bank involved in all types of commercial banking fields.
The majorities of big Moroccan companies as well as small and medium-sized firms are clients of Crédit du Maroc whose profile includes wholesale and middle market corporate customers and middle-to-upper income consumer clients. Crédit du Maroc offers to them a comprehensive range of innovative and competitive services and products and integrated financial services.
The financing of international trade linked to Morocco constitutes an important and always growing part of our activity. Crédit du Maroc has a long standing experience and competence in foreign trade operations and financing of short, medium and long term projects.
Foreign activities are supported by a vast network of more than 2000 correspondents throughout the world. We have reciprocal working and client services agreements with several leading banks in the five continents.
Crédit du Maroc remains concentrated on its core banking activities. It has four subsidiaries in the fields of leasing, venture capital, securities and off-shore banking, but no commercial or industrial participation.
